Interesting skillet

This cast iron skillet has a rather interesting look to it as it is dimpled around the outside of it. It has no makers mark on it and it is a very heavy. My husband's grandparents bought it at either a yard sale or flea market and now it has been given to us. There is a lid that was also given to us with the skillet but does not match the skillet. It does fit it very nice along with a couple of our other cast iron pieces. The lid itself is heavy enough that when you go to lift it off of the skillet you think it has gotten stuck but it hasn't. I hope you have found this to be an interesting skillet.

  • This is interesting. I googled and found that these types had been created and casted to mimic more expensive cookware that had hammered dimples.

    • This is actually our heaviest piece of cast iron. Seems to be quality built. I have also seen some newer ones that kind of looks like it.

    • Oh I have no doubt on it’s quality, it’s just that we went through a weird period where everyone wanted aluminum and steel with decorations. The cast iron was viewed as “old fashioned “ and this was an odd result.

  • That is an unusual skillet, but sometimes unusual is the best kind. I have 3 different sized cast iron skillet that was passed down from my grandmother. My mom is retired and she doesn’t cook that much so she passed them down to

    My some time ago.
