International Goodies: Dutch Stroopwafels are so good
Especially when they are freshly made
I still remember the first time I had a Dutch Stroopwafel, aka a Syrup Waffle. It was back in 2015, and I had just stepped off the train on my first ever visit to Amsterdam. There, I headed right for the VVV (Tourist Information) to get a map.
Since those foreign objects looked very intriguing, I bought a two-pack of Stroopwafles right there. And they were very good!
A Waffle Stand.
That year I had actually visited the Netherlands twice, once in July, and the other time for New Year's Eve.
On my second Visit, I was staying at a Friend's in Utrecht, and there I had my first ever freshly made giant Stroopwafel. It was much better than anything I had ever bought at any VVV or Supermarket.
The Waffle was much crispier, and the Caramel Syrup was still nice and warm and extra gooey. It was very awesome!
For the next Years, I would only be able to have Supermarket ones though, as I did not visit the Netherlands again until 2019. I also did not want to miss out on the Goodness though.
When I then visited again back in 2019, I discovered something I had never heard of before: Stroopwafel Liqueur!
Usually, I am not that much into Alcohol, but this Stuff was very delicious. It was also not too sweet, and that is hard to achieve considering the Base of the Booze.
I could buy that Stuff online, but just like the other Dutch Liqeour I had discovered on that Trip, it is a little pricey here in Germany. But then again, it does not cost much more than a Bottle of Bacardi, around 13€. So maybe I will actually order some.
A few Days ago then, I had to buy tiny Stroopwaffels at the Supermarket. The normal sized ones were sold out, and I was having a major 'I want that' Moment, so I could not go back Home without any.
And I have to admit: I kinda like those Kleintje Stroopwafels much more than their normal sized Counterparts. The Syrup to Waffle Ratio seemed to be much better. I liked that.
But fresh made Stroopwafels still reign King. Sadly, the last Time I was able to have those was back in 2019. That was in Rotterdam, in the local Markthal.
Also, should I buy that Booze and the other Dutch Booze I know to 'Review' them? That would cost me around 28€ + Shipping.
