My personal ranking of the best Italian biscuits for breakfast
As you know, we Italians make a sweet breakfast. We love sugar in the morning! Croissant and cappuccino in a café are ideal, but a home-cooked breakfast with milk and biscuits can also be special.
So... Below you will find my small ranking of Italian biscuits. I don't know which ones you can find abroad, but I wish you could try them all! I have only considered the 'industrial' biscuits, the ones we find in the supermarket and usually eat for breakfast. So... Let's do it!
N.7 GRANCEREALE - Barilla
Grancereale biscuits have different flavors, they are all very good in my opinion. But - obviously - chocolate wins over everything. A biscuit to soak in milk as if it were the last day of the world.
N.6 CIOCCOGRANO - MULINO BIANCO
Here is a Mulino Bianco biscuit that mixes chocolate with wholemeal flour. Delightful!
N.5 GOCCIOLE - PAVESI
Shortcrust pastry and dark chocolate: here are the original Gocciole. Over the years Pavesi has increased the production: extra dark, wholemeal and then, the coconut Gocciole. All very good, with a preference for those with coconut.
N.4 RIGOLI - MULINO BIANCO
Rigoli are the example that good things are simple. Here are some shortbread biscuits with milk and 100% Italian Millefiori Honey that comes from the nectar of different species of flowers that bees select during the spring and summer blooms.
N.3 MOLINETTI - MULINO BIANCO
You have to understand one thing about Molinetti: they are huge (Approx. 7 cm X 5 cm)! They contain wholemeal buckwheat flour, oatmeal flour and brown sugar. Do they look sad to say so? Trust me, they are not. In milk they are divine!
N.2 Pan di stelle - Mulino Bianco
Cocoa, hazelnuts and icing stars: a true poem of taste. Mulino Bianco has developed Pan di Stelle in many recipes: spreadable cream, cake, ice cream, snacks... everything is sublime!
N.1 SCHIACCIANOCI - Mulino Bianco
The best! Pecans, hazelnuts, almonds and cocoa: they are quite recent and jumped to the top of the chart immediately. Soaking a Nutcracker in warm milk gives a special flavour to the day!
