Jeremy Clarkson will open a Diddly Squat restaurant: what should he call it?

I have a suggestion: ‘The Haunted Sheep’

Jeremy Clarkson called a meeting at the Memorial Hall in Chadlington today to share his latest idea with the locals: he wants to open a restaurant at his farm.

In an hour-long meeting, Clarkson said he’d like to convert his lambing shed into a full-blown restaurant. He also stated the restaurant would be “cheaper” than nearby restaurants [around £60 for a meal for two]. As things stand, there’s a shop, a ‘Beer Bus’ and something Jeremy calls the ‘Big View’, but no actual restaurants with indoor seating.

Doctor Jonathan Moore, 53, was inside the meeting and told the Press Association: “It’s all subject to planning, so he can’t promise anything yet, but he’s hoping to change the lambing shed into a restaurant. We thought it would be for 150 (people) but it’s actually 60 seats, and he’s trying to control the number of people coming to the farm shop in the future.”

Moore concluded by saying that his idea was received with mixed feelings. “As expected there were some people who had very strong views either way,” said Moore. “The people who had negative views made them more strongly.”

Maggie Jackman, another Chadlington resident, said the meeting “went very well, he was very entertaining. A lot of people were completely won over.”

Clarkson told reporters he didn‘t know what to expect. “Who knows? I’m just here to listen,” said Jeremy. “Gossip spreads in villages and they don’t know what we’re doing so I thought, the best thing I can do is come down and say, ‘This is what we’re doing’, and then it isn’t gossip any more.“

Zoe Townsend, chairwoman of Chadlington Parish Council, has so far declined to comment.
