Join the Pear Tree Inn for an NHS fundraising cookalong
The pub in Leicester is holding another online cookalong event to raise funds for the NHS
The lockdown has been enforced for weeks now, and for most pubs that means no business at all. No punters coming in for a pint and a bite to eat; the doors are closed.
Things are a bit different for the Pear Tree Inn in Leicester, though. Its owners are making the best of a bad situation – and, in doing so, raising vital funds for frontline NHS workers, who are risking their lives to keep us safe. And their efforts also happen to be bringing tremendous fun and top notch dinners to us all.
Marco, Riccardo and Gianni Albiniano, owners of the Pear Tree, have managed to raise over £4200 so far for the NHS by hosting live cookalongs on their facebook page. With the success they've had so far, they are keen to keep it going, and are hoping to make the next one the biggest yet.
When to tune in and what you'll need
Thursday evening's chicken korma
Thursday 14 May will see the guys walk you through the making of a beautiful chicken korma with a dessert of mango kulfi. If you are able to get to the pub, you can pick up an ingredient box with everything you need for a dinner for 2 for £12 (just give them a call in advance to place your order). Every single penny will go straight to the NHS COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund.
If you're not able to get to the pub, head (carefully) to your local supermarket and pick up the ingredients (and when you're done, think about making a donation to the NHS, in keeping with the cause). A donation of any size you can manage will be massively appreciated, but if you're just joining for fun, remember to spread the word to get as many people involved as possible.
Dessert will get underway at 5pm BST, with the main course kicking off at 6pm.
