Lay's has given a nod to a number of famous restaurants across the United States with its new limited edition Flavor Icons series.

The range, which will only be on sale for just shy of two months, consists of five iconically American flavors with each drawing inspiration from a restaurant famous for serving it and bearing its logo on the packaging as well.

Available in all stores across the US will be Kettle Cooked New York Style Pizza inspired by Grimaldi's in New York City; Nashville Hot Chicken inspired by Party Fowl in Nashville; Philly Cheesesteak which draws its inspiration from Geno's Steaks in Philadelphia; and Wavy Carnitas Street Taco inspired by El Torito in Los Angeles.

The fifth flavor in the range, Chile Relleno inspired by Cocina Azul in Albuquerque, will be exclusive to 7-Eleven and Walmart for the entire duration of the promotion.

The Lay's Flavor Icons series is set to hit shelves across America from 13 July, and will be on sale only until 10 September.

  • Chips could quite possibly be the most eaten food in our house. I think it's an inherited trait from my wife's side. Will definitely check ingredients to see which flavors we can order up for the kids to try

  • I might have to check a couple of those flavors out.

    • I'd be very interested to hear how you go with them if you do! Although these are obviously US exclusive, Lay's are pretty hard to get in Oz these days anyway, I've only seen them at Aldi on rare occasions. Shame since I am a fan of them

  • I'd mix them in a large bowl and dip each one in blue cheese or french onion dip. It would be a great addition to a warm summer afternoon.
