Manchester United players won’t eat dessert anymore because of Cristiano Ronaldo
Yup. That includes apple crumble with custard
Back in the Summer, Cristiano Ronaldo left the Italian Serie A and Juventus to return to Manchester United after 12 years. He‘d left Old Trafford and the EPL back in 2009 to join Real Madrid, where he played until 2018, when he moved to Juventus. The deal, according to ESPN, is worth £12.75m with a potential further £8m in add-ons.
Why is this on Foodtribe? Because Ronaldo is 36 years old, he’ll turn 37 in February, and he’s still fitter than most 25-year-old footballers because he trains hard and because of his eating regimen.
I must’ve read a million articles about Ronaldo’s mythological eating plan. The media and journalists love to exaggerate it because Cristiano is a bankable name guaranteed to bring clicks and comments but some of the things that have been said are true, as confirmed by Ronaldo’s teammates over the years.
Man Utd goalkeeper Lee Grant said the players are now scared to eat junk food in front of Ronaldo. ”Usually on a Friday night you’ve got a few cheat stuff out. You’ve got some apple crumble or brownies with cream”, said Grant. “I tell you now, not one player touched the apple crumb and the custard. One of the lads said to me: ‘what has Cristiano got on his plate?’”
According to his personal chef, Ronaldo usually eats fish in the evening and loves black rice. He also hates fizzy drinks and sodas, and rumour has it he’s already told teammates not to drink Coke. The irony is that Ronaldo actually stopped drinking Coca-Cola at Utd, back when he was an up-and-coming youngster, because Ryan Giggs, former Man Utd player, “pinned him to the wall” when Ronaldo came to breakfast with a can of Coca-Cola in his hands.
Troy Deeney, currently at Birmingham City, joked that he would eat whatever Ronaldo did if it helped him stay fit. He gave a very… visual description of what he would do. He said: “if I saw Ronaldo eating horse s**t for a pre-game meal, I would eat it too!”
Do you follow an eating plan or do you just whatever whenever?
