My Journey Through FoodTribe: Beer battered fish and curry sauce
Joining Rachael Hogg for some beer battered fish with curry sauce
Rachael Hogg posted a beer battered fish along with a chip shop curry sauce a while back and I decided to make it. I couldn't find the beer she used but I did make sure to use a lager. I used some Lake Erie walleye for the fish and dried it off just as she said. It is a real basic batter and there is really no need in adding anything else to it. Very delicious, fried up to a nice crunchy golden brown and I will be using this again as is. Now with being over in America I have never had curry with fish. I'm not saying it isn't available but the places I have been I have not seen it. Rachael's sauce does have a very nice curry flavor, I already had everything in my spice cabinet to make it. I went to dip my fish into it and I didn't care for it. So I finished up my fish with some malt vinegar instead and I of course had ketchup for my hand cut fries. If you have not checked out Rachael Hogg's post make sure to go check it out and try it. So tell me in the comments: curry sauce...yes or no?

I will have to try it. However, I love malt vinegar a lot so I can imagine the same thing happening.
So is the curry sauce strictly an English thing?
Yum! This looks awesome Jane, and well done for trying British chip shop curry sauce 😂. We are a bit weird...
Thanks so much Rosie! I do like curries so I thought I might like it...lol
your fish and curry sauce.
Yessss, excellent work ! Looks fab!
...and yes, the whole 'curry sauce' thing is a weird British quirk. Lots of people don't like it over here either! Also, quite a lot of people go for gravy 😋.
Gravy? What kind of gravy?
I will stick to malt vinegar and salt 🙂
Much safer that way.
