My Journey Through FoodTribe: #sidesmatter

Some of you may know and some may not but I tried out some the recipes from my challenge...

2w ago

There were so many tasty sounding side dishes from my challenge that I had to try some out. I may go back and try some more out but let's check out the ones I did try out. These are in no particular order.

Darren Parsons: Apple and beetroot relish

This was a proper balance of flavors and very enjoyable. Sweet, tart, earthy and a bit of spice made this a wonderful BBQ side dish. This is the first time I have ever had beetroot. The color inside the beetroot was very pretty.

Angel L: Chinese cucumber salad

This satisfied my Asian side with the flavors of this cucumber salad. Salty, spicy, sour and paired with some fatty beef and a bit of rice, this was amazing.

Yu Ting Yau: Seasoned Corn on the cob

The seasoning was on point and complimented the corn well. Most of the seasonings seemed to want to pool in the foil with the butter. Next time I will add butter and seasonings after I cook the corn. Delicious flavor combination.

Let's go for the next seasoned corn on the cob. This one was delicious as well and will probably have it again. I loved just slathering on the butter mixture onto that hot corn. Watching is just drip down onto the plate...I might need to fix this tonight.

Doug F: Polish Cucumber salad

This nothing heavy gunked up with mayo. This is lightly creamy, seasoned with dill and chives. I can make a whole dinner out of this. I can only imagine how much better the hungarian cucumber salad would taste.

Doug F: Baked beans

Sweet, smoky, a bit of spice and cooked until nice and thick. Makes me want to throw some ribs on the grill and make up some more of these baked beans.

Zahara Shafiei: Iranian cucumber tomato salad

One thing I have learned when I hosted this challenge is that every country has their own version of cucumber salad. This was very tasty also and I greatly enjoyed it. I ordered the unripe grape juice off of Amazon so I could properly try this. The unripe grape juice does make a big difference compared to doing lime or a vinegar, it adds a different taste and I was glad I tried it this way. Very delicious and fresh.

If you want to go check out all the recipes from the challenge

I hope you all will give some of these a try and I'll see you on the next Journey...
