Nature's Pantry: Foraging Bärlauch
Gathering some wild Bears Garlic with my Family.
Store-bought Foods are everywhere, our Pantries are full of them and they are oh so convenient to get. But Mother Nature also has a lot of tasty Goodies to offer. Like Bärlauch, or Bears Garlic.
Today, I headed out into the Woods near my Hometown with my Family to do some nice Foraging. Here in Germany that is actually allowed, but only if you pick for yourself.
Along the Path.
As soon as we turned off the Road and into the Forest, we saw and smelled what we were after. Bärlauch was growing everywhere along the Path and in between the Trees. The Stuff kinda smells like Garlic, and it was awesome.
We started picking right away. And even though we were only there for a short Time, we picked more than we actually needed, yet we barely made a Scratch into Nature's supplies.
Some Bärlauch.
Today was a great Day for Foraging. I always wanted to collect Bärlauch sometimes, but I usually was too late and the Stuff had already begun to Flower. It is not inedible then, but it does not taste as good as well.
We Germans actually use Bärlauch for a variety of Things, like specialty Bratwurst.
Foraging Bärlauch.
The foraged Stuff has already been processed, but that is another Story.
The Result is definitely Delicious though and goes well with some Ciabatta or other Things.

We had too much Fun. 😬
Awesome!
Great story Robin! You are correct , why pay for what nature gives freely.
Thanks! We actually made something nice from it, too. And yes, there will be a Post.
Welcome! I can not wait to see it.
Pretty cool 😎! I've never foraging, I would like to do it one time. The pesto looks spectacular!
It definitely was.
