New cook-along world record
Former Masterchef contestant Raheel Mirza set out to bring people together with an online curry masterclass and set a record in the process!
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen people do all kinds of incredible things, from lapping their garden for charity to setting a new world record for 'Most people cooking online simultaneously'.
Raheel on Masterchef in 2020
Yes, the world of cooking has a new record holder in Masterchef contestant, Raheel Mirza. Throughout the many lockdowns here in the UK, Raheel has been holding various cook-alongs from his kitchen. In 2020 he was a contestant on Masterchef, this, coupled with his passion for the kitchen lead to him starting his cook-along shows in the first lockdown in 2020 after people were clamouring to see how he'd cooked one of the dishes from the competition.

Typically with a following of fifty people learning the skills needed for his favoured Pakistani cuisine, on the 12th of February that number swelled, considerably.
The news was broken to Raheel on the BBC's The One Show.
To set the new record Raheel would need at least 177 were taking part, so tickets were issued with the money going to the NHS. The attempt was then verified by Guinness World Records with 532 participants. Fantastic stuff indeed, and a brilliant bit of levity in these unprecedented times.
