Now there are cocktail-flavored hard selzters
Yeah, we're confused too...
As summer (albeit a weird, masked and socially distanced summer) rolls into view, the news about hard seltzers just keeps on coming.
This time we’ve got word of hard seltzers that are flavored like different classic cocktails. They’re called Social Club Seltzers, and they’re made by Anheuser-Busch, the folks behind Bud Light, Natty Light and co.
There are three different varieties – Old Fashioned, Sidecar and Citrus Gimlet – and they’re described as “cocktail-inspired flavors with the sessionability of a seltzer”. Which *kinda* makes sense, but still sounds a bit like a watered-down cocktail. Don’t worry though, we'll still try it — in the name of journalistic research, of course.
Lana Kouznetsov, VP of Beyond Beer, Anheuser-Busch, had this not-very-elucidating statement: "With the growth of the hard seltzer industry comes consumers looking for new offerings that fit different occasions, so we are excited to introduce a new premium hard seltzer cocktail for fans to enjoy. Inspired by the flavors of classic cocktails and combined with the refreshment of a seltzer, Social Club appeals to cocktail lovers who are looking for the flavors they love but in a more sessionable format."
We’re guessing sessionable in this context means… chuggable?

Social Club is 150 calories per can, with an ABV of 7%. We’re still not entirely sure whether it’s a cocktail with hard seltz vibes or fizzy water with essence of cocktail… you be the judge.
