Now you can get free burgers for a year from Burger King
It’s as simple as sharing a hashtag.
Free food seems to be a popular concept at the moment. In fact, it’s frankly surprising that it’s taken people, businesses and even governments so long to appreciate the enormous love that exists for anything even remotely edible.
It started with the UK’s Eat Out to Help Out campaign – launched to help boost restaurant trade in the wake of COVID-19 shutdowns; now Burger King has picked up the suitably regal gauntlet and launched a competition that promises winners a year’s supply of the company’s famous Whopper burgers.
The stalwart of fast food chains (with undeniably the best fries going) has been showcasing its new Whopper card that is designed to provide lucky customers with the exclusive deal. However, the company has added a sprinkle of difficulty to give the contest some spice: there are only two of the magical cards up for grabs.
Initially there were three, but the very first one was awarded to UK rapper Tinie (who, coincidentally, forms a key part of the competition). In order to be in with a shout of becoming Burger King royalty, competitors need to describe their wonderful experiences of Tinie’s performance of his song Whoppa atop a virtual, giant burger. Levels of intelligence akin to University Challenge are really not required.
Although BK treats are being given away every day, the deadline for the meaty Whopper challenge is 15th August. All you need to do to be entered is to think of some kind, inspiring words (I’d suggest staying away from Facebook), use the hashtag #WhoppaonaWhopper and tag Tinie and @BurgerKingUK.
I’m hoping that if I ask them to leave off the lettuce that they’ll give me an extra year of untainted burgers.
