Panera releases iconic bread bowl glove to hold iced coffee on cold days
...no it's not 1 April
The signature and most recognizable item at Panera is of course, the bread bowl. How do you take an icon to the next level? Well, turning into a glove that holds iced coffee is one way of doing things.
Panera's latest invention is called the Iced & Toasty Bread Bowl Glove. Panera is citing a statistic that 78% of Americans said they continue to drink iced coffee in the cold weather, so they wanted to create something that would protect customers' hands.
While the glove is made of fabric and not actual bread (boo!), it looks so similar to a bread bowl that from far away you surely wouldn't be able to tell the difference?
There is one caveat though, and it's a biggie. You can't actually purchase the glove. I know, first of all it's not actually bread, and now we're telling you you can't even buy one.
If you're interested in the Iced & Tasty Bread Bowl Glove, you'll have to go to icedandtoasty.com and sign up. You have until January 29th to do so. 450 winners will be chosen and those lucky people will receive a glove!
At this point you might be wondering why they've decided to make this, because as far as we know, this isn't a promo item for a new drink or menu item. A Panera spokesperson had the answer: "With our unlimited premium coffee subscription, we've seen just how much our customers love their iced coffee, no matter what time of year. So, we thought we'd have a little fun and create a limited edition item to help keep their hands warm this winter, and what better design than our signature bread bowl that everyone knows and loves?"
Whether you want a bread bowl glove or not, Panera wants everyone to know that right now you can sign up for a three-month free unlimited coffee subscription trial.
What do you guys think? Is this bread bowl glove the perfect solution to a chilly problem... or is it not really your style?
