Pilot flies 80 miles for beef butty

Pigs may not fly, but perhaps cows should.

It rather depends on your tastes as to what you believe constitutes an expensive meal.

To Russian tycoons and people in power (there's a difference?) only the most regal of five-star hotels serve the quality of quail eggs and roast swan that meet their standards.

To me, on the other hand, McDonald's Happy Meals are the height of luxury (although I've never been able to enjoy the taste of the toys – plastic is a terrible ingredient).

Despite everyone's constant cravings for cheeky bites, never has anyone's lust for a particular snack been as great as one guy's obsession with roast beef sandwiches.

According to the Blackpool Gazette, an unknown helicopter pilot was monitored online flying from City Airport in Salford, Manchester to the village of Ribble Valley in Lancashire – where he was seen to collect a steaming hot roast beef and caramelised onion barm.

The popular shop in question – Chipping Farm Shop – uploaded a video of the pilot (who had flown the journey totalling 80 miles) picking up the meal onto Instagram, commenting: "When your customers are literally flying in to collect their favourite Roast Beef in Caramelised Onion Gravy Barms".

But, with COVID-19 lockdown restrictions remaining tight, the carnivorous chopper champion is now being investigated by police for potentially breaching stay-at-home legislation – although perhaps the Queen could give him a royal pardon for being understandably seduced by the saucy onions, dripping gravy and irresistibly tender beef. OnlyFans hasn’t seen anything yet.

What meal would you travel across the world to enjoy?

  • Mad props to this guy! I love traveling for noms. The furthest I've driven was a 68 km round trip for a food truck called GRUB. They do Yorkshire pudding wraps filled with roast, om nom nom nom nom.

If we could travel though, there are soooo many places I want to go. There's a place in New York called Avocaderia. There's a place in Amsterdam called The Avocado Show. There's a place in Melbourne called Major Tom's a Burger Junkie. I have a list somewhere with so many more. I'd love a foodie trip around Vietnam. I'd love to do a Ramen crawl around Japan. I could go on... 😂
