Pinterest reveals trending Halloween treats

Which terrifying treats topped the most-pinned list this year?

51w ago

With All Hallows Eve just around the corner, Pinterest has revealed its most ‘pinned’ Halloween recipes of 2019.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your Stranger Things Halloween party (searches are up 549%), or the final touches for a spooky themed wedding (+195% this year), Pinterest seems to be the place to turn to for everything from costumes and makeup, to decorations and canapes.

As usual, the old recipes are still among the most popular, with searches for Halloween themed cupcake ideas rising 452%, while Halloween sugar cookie decorations and Halloween pies have received a bump of 106% and 56% respectively.

Surprisingly though, this year’s most-pinned Halloween treat is the Jack-o-lantern chips & dips recipe from Tasty Co, which has been pinned 57k times. It’s not hard to see why this recipe is popular, as the simple but inventive twist on chips and dips transforms last year's comical trend of puking pumpkins into a fun centerpiece for any Fright Night festivities. It’s not a party without guacamole.

If you’re on the hunt for a sweeter treat to tempt visiting goblins and ghouls, Mom Foodie’s White chocolate skulls & brains (15k saves) look elegant but are deceptively easy to make, while simply happy foodie’s Dark chocolate Halloween cookies (7k saves) are loaded with cocoa, chocolate chips and can be topped with whatever extra sweets or sprinkles you fancy.

We all know that Halloween isn’t just about the food though. Any celebration worthy of the spooky holiday should have a bubbling cauldron ready to refresh guests (and to offer to tired parents out on the trick or treating route).

Only one cocktail made the list this year, but it’s easy to see why it’s a favourite. Sprinkles & Sprout’s Witches Brew (2k saves) would look particularly impressive in a punch bowl, garnished with blackberries and mint, and it can be easily adapted for non-drinkers - just swap out the vodka and liqueur for soda water and raspberry syrup.
