Pizza pick up: pandemic style

My family decided to get pizza from our second favorite pizza joint in the city, called Beto's. They are locally owned and have been in business for about 60 years. They have a unique style of pizza that you will have to see for yourself below.

One car at a time

One car at a time

You must call ahead to place your order, and then you drive to the restaurant. They are only offering pick up at this time. One employee runs in and out, and delivers the orders to each car one at a time. You must stay in your car. If your order is not ready when you get there, there are numbered parking spaces, and they tell you which one to pull in to.

Beto's has their own way of making pizza, and you either love it or you don't. They bake a perfectly crispy crust with fresh, chunky tomatoes. But they don't bake the cheese! The mozzarella shreds are piled high on top. The combination of hot crust and tomatoes with the cold cheese is absolutely delicious. It's an acquired taste, but I would recommend anyone to try it.

Would you eat pizza with the cheese piled high on top?

  • The wine shop down the road here is pickup only, which is unique. Call ahead, pay for what you want, and pick it up curbside

  • Some places do the same thing here in Québec, when I ordered the mask, I pulled up to the door, call the shop and they came out in full protective gear to deliver the goods. Times a changin’

    • Times are very much different now. It seems like most places have adapted pretty well, at least on the outside to us customers

  • Cheese piled on top? Definitely worth a try. But I'm not a big fan of pizzas with just tomatoes 🙈

    • There is a bit of sauce too, but yes it does involve chunky tomatoes haha 😊
