  • DEAR GOD NO. (well unless it's gin, then obviously tonic, or if I'm making an Old Fashioned or Negroni or something... ok so under a few specific circumstances!).

    • I feel certain cocktails embrace fine spirits, like an old fashioned, but don’t you dare put my Extra Añejo Tequila in a margarita. Lol

    • hahaha yes, I've got a bottle of this: cuervo.com/products/reserva-de-la-familia/ and I literally only bring it out on Christmas Day every year... someone once asked for the lime and the salt and it took all my restraint not to...

  • I said no to mixing, but I feel it depends on what it is. I always taste everything neat before deciding if it requires a couple of rocks or to be mixed. Only Vodka and Gin I tend to mix, though I do enjoy the nice ones on the rocks, and whisky, whiskey, bourbon, brandy, sherry, tequila and some liqueurs (Kahlua, baileys etc) are definite no no's for mixing! Though, a good cocktail is always a pleasure 😂

    • I feel like it’s not necessary to have super fine liquor in certain cocktails, but a whiskey sour with excellent Scotch is totally okay with me. Not like 25yo SpringBank, but some nice GlenAllachie is wonderful to me.

  • There’s only a few spirits I could say could be mixed with ice... but only if it’s something like Gin, Vodka or rum, but if it’s whisky/whiskey? No! God no! Ice water on the side with it yes. But not in the spirit itself! Fuck that!

    • I don’t mind using good whiskey or Scotch to make a top shelf Sour or Old Fashioned. But it takes some serious precision, quality ingredients, and masterful mixing techniques to make a cocktail that is worthy of nice Single Malt.
