Let's joke about this surreal situation we are living in, and face it with a good cocktail in hand. My good friend Alessandro suggested in his list of tips to keep you fit while in quarantine, to dress up properly and have a good glass of wine or a Gin and tonic on your balcony.
I am going to suggest drinking a Quarantini.
Apparently, this cocktail has become pretty popular around Italy, even though I've never heard about it until this morning. But hey, let's see what it is all about. It's basically a homemade Martini, with some variants from the classic recipe.
Martini
6 parts Gin
1 part Vermouth
Ice and an olive or a twist of lemon
Method
In a mixing glass full of ice cubes, add Gin and Vermouth, stir and then pour into a chilled Martini glass, garnish with an olive or with a lemon twist.
Quarantini
Quarantini takes a different path, using ingredients more easily accessible in everyone's home.
3 parts Vodka or Gin
2 parts lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
Ice and a lemon twist as garnish
A martini glass
A shaker
Method
If you feel creative, you can rim the chilled Martini glass with vitamin C powder, like you do with salt on a margarita, to really give it some healing powers. People are doing it but it is not recommended to assume alcohol with it, so be wise and don't do it.
Put two cups of ice in a shaker, add Vodka or Gin, lemon juice and honey, and shake them all. Pour in a chilled Martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
The taste it is good, especially if you like sour flavours. I used Gin and followed the above suggestions, dressing up and well going near the window.
Cheers!

It’s alcohol. What’s not to like? :)
Piùcinque is a bright, dry, delicious Italian Gin that would go great with this recipe... With the bars and restaurants closed, I'll have to make this a report back!
I didn't know it, thanks for sharing 😁
