Ramsay's Pétrus named best London Restaurant at Bookatable awards

Moor Hall in Lancashire takes the overall UK win – and the best steak is in Manchester

Gordon Ramsay's Pétrus has taken the title of Best Restaurant in London at the 2019 Bookatable Diner Awards.

TV's sweariest man Ramsay may have the pick of the Capital's eateries, but it was Moor Hall in Aughton, Lancashire that took the overall UK win. Meanwhile Hawksmoor in Manchester was voted the best place in the country if you're after a steak.

If, like me, you're increasingly after restaurants that don't roll their eyes when you stroll in accompanied by a child or two then you'll want to sample Kitty Cafe in Leeds, voted Best Child-Friendly Restaurant .

Meanwhile, if you want your date to end more successfully than normal you can't beat The Art School in Liverpool – voted Most Romantic Restaurant in the UK. Though if you're busy reviewing the restaurant after a date rather than going for a romantic walk then you're probably doing it wrong.

The awards were based on more than 150,000 verified diner reviews from bookatable.co.uk, and remember to check out the other winners in Bookatable's full list of best UK restaurants.

  • I wanna go there next time I'm in London. Does anyone know if I have to book a table in advance?

  • Trip Advisor just named Guernsey as the best place in the UK to eat out. Don't believe it, it's overpriced shyte. Catch of the Day was Scottish farmed salmon from a Bar 10 yards from a fishing port. Utter crap, this as a trained chef.
