Robin's Kitchen: Steak and Cheese make a great Sandwich
Cooking Stuff and filming it is Fun.
Lately, I have watching some NCIS on American Netflix. One of the Episodes I saw inspired me to try to recreate an old favourite of mine.
A nice Sandwich, made with Beef Steak, Onions and Cheese. An American Icon of the East Coast. Something truly delicious.
I decided to try and recreate a Philly Cheese Steak.
So cheesy.
Of Course I had to make some Compromises. For one, I could not get my Hands on any Provolone Cheese. So I used a beautiful Mozzarella.
There was also no Way I could get a real Hogie Roll anywhere near me. So I went with a more Rustic Roll instead. That was a good Choice in hindsight.
Instead of Fillet, I went with some Bovine Hip. That was way cheaper, at less than half Price.
Ccooking the Cheese Steak.
I never actually had a real Philly Cheese Steak in Philadelphia, Pennsilavnia. But my Cook-Friend who used to make them in the Canadian Rockies once had an Internship in the City. He definitely knew what to do.
A real Cheese Steak doe not need many Ingredients. Steak and Cheese are really al you need. Even the Onion is optional and Purists would probably never add any. For me, they do belong though.
Just do not get started with all that West Coast Blasphemy. Bell Peppers have no Place in this delicious Sandwich.
My Result.
Cooking a Cheese Steak is actually not that hard.
First, I sautéed my Onions and then removed them from the Pan. Afterwards I added the sliced Meat and cooked that, re-adding the Onions after a while. I also added some freshly ground Pepper in the process.
In the End, I then added my Cheese, I had to use Mozzarella, turned off the Heat and let it all simmer down into an nice cheesy Mess.
All that then found its Home in a nice Rustic Roll 'buttered' with Remoulade.
I definitely have to say: My Version of a Philly Cheese Steak turned out way better than I would have ever anticipated. It was so delicious, despite only having a handful of Ingredients. It is obvious why it is such an American Icon.
In my Opinion, it is also one of the best Sandwiches there is.

I would so eat that! Very nice!
It has been tasty. Just wish I had bought a little more Steak.
Good job man!
Thanks! 😊
It looks great! It looks better than the one I tried in Philly 😅
Thank you!
Nailed it! It is in the name "cheese steak" that is all in needs. What kind of cheese is not as important (that argument can last days) as long as there is plenty of it.
Great job! 👍
Oh, there was plenty of it.
And it was so delicious. 😋
I am sure you would have like it.
Oh I am positive I would. It looks great 👍
That looks great! The bread was the perfect choice - no need to find a real hoagie roll when you have that
Thanks!
I was really happy with that Bread.
