Seitan and potatoes with beer
It's not my best recipe, but the fridge was empty, and I was hungry.
I'm not used to vegan cooking, but I like to try it once in a while. Last night I was alone, and my fridge was empty (but yes, despite the emergency we can go shopping for the first necessities, so today we'll go).
I mean, I dug the bottom of the barrel and found this. Let's see what I did.
Grilled seitan, onion, potatoes, sage, oil, salt, black pepper and... beer.
Stir-fry the onion in a drizzle of oil and a drop of water.
Add the seitan and the potatoes diced into small cubes and stif-fry all together for some minutes.
Add the beer, as you see in the photo. Add a bit of salt and black pepper. (Tip - don't be like me: make sure the beer you are using is not too bitter.)
Cook over medium heat with the lid on. Then, take a sip of beer, but not too much: you'll probably have to add some later.
Towards the end of the cooking, add the sage and check if you have put enough salt.
When the potatoes are cooked and the beer has dried, the dish is ready.
At this point, take a coppapasta and try to prepare the dish like the great chefs. Fail. Give up and served it in a rough way.
If the beer was not bitter, the result is excellent.
