Small, simple and brilliant: Snackin' Bacon from Dunkin' Donuts review
Dunkin' Donuts' little treat leaves me craving for more
The world's current state has interrupted my typical morning work routine that consisted of filling my patrol car with fuel and then walking into the gas station for a cup of fresh ground, fresh brewed Guatemalan coffee. In order to minimize contact with folks while out and about on patrol, I now avoid going into the gas station to get my coffee. To survive though, I've bit the bullet and started getting in line at the Dunkin Donuts drive through, despite the cops and donuts stereotype.
I've stuck to the coffee now for weeks at the Dunkin Donuts; either hot and black or iced with cream and sugar. No donuts. No pastries. No breakfast sandwiches. Just my coffee. But something on the menu board in the drive through had captured my attention weeks ago. And today I gave into the temptation.
Snackin' Bacon! I mean, it's two beautiful things combined. Who doesn't like snacks? Who doesn't like bacon? Now we have both combined! And it was pretty damn good!
Yep, it's actually called Snackin' Bacon.
I was tickled that each piece of bacon was pretty close in size and shape to the next. Each piece was almost perfectly flat, and they fit into their little paper sack very nicely. I noticed a slight sheen to the Snackin' Bacon and got even more excited. It was candied! And it was peppered too! The flavor was addictive; almost perfect. It wasn't too sweet. It wasn't too peppery. The flavors were just strong enough to enjoy while leaving your mouth wanting slightly more.
The only thing I wished for more of, ironically, was more of that umami flavor that is bacon! I just needed more bacon flavor. Somehow the bacon flavor was slightly muted from the bacon. The peppery flavor built bite after bite into a nice spiciness in the mouth. Again, not too overdone, but just perfect.
Ughhhhhh. I want more Snackin' Bacon. I want it now!
Good job Dunkin Donuts! Very good job!
