This morning, I had some Vegemite on toast with cheese. Vegemite, I think is one of those things you either like or you don't. It has a strong flavour which apart from the saltiness, is a bit hard to describe.
For those who aren't familiar with Vegemite, it is an Australian spread made from yeast extract with various spices. (I heard it is similar to Marmite, but I have yet to try Marmite)
I discovered Vegemite when I was working for COBS Bread/Bakers Delight, a franchise that originated in Australia. At the location I worked at we made "Cheesymite Scrolls" (not all locations make these). Cheesymite Scrolls are shaped like a cinnamon roll and are made with Vegemite and cheese. The cheese pairs well with the Vegemite as it helps cut out the strong Vegemite taste.
