SpaceX is looking for a ‘Spaceport Mixologist’
It sounds intriguing
SpaceX, the private aerospace company founded and run by Elon Musk, is currently offering several job opportunities and it also added a listing for a position the company calls ‘Spaceport Mixologist’.
We all know what ‘mixologist’ means but I’m not sure what they mean when they say ‘Spaceport’, because the mixologist in question is certainly not going to space. SpaceX is headquartered in Hawthorne, California but operates of its south Texas launch site, dubbed ‘Starbase’.
”SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not," the job listing reads. "Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars."
Maybe one day we’ll be drinking a Martian Mule on Mars but for the time being, the terrestrial Spaceport Mixologist should have "experience preparing handcrafted cocktails in a resort environment," and “experience making beverages to accompany a themed menu“.
Both facilities (in Texas and California) comprise restaurants and bars for visitors and employees but rumour has it that Musk wants to open one of these venues to customers as well.
Back in January, Tim Dodd, the man who runs the @EverydayAstronaut account, posted a picture of a building that he said contained the Spaceport's Tiki Bar.
Musk replied to the tweet and said that this particular facility was actually a restaurant, but he added that the company is indeed planning to build a bar at the top of the high bay that it uses to build and assemble its Starship spacecraft and rockets.
I guess the only way to find it is to apply for the post.
