Starbucks launches vegan whipped topping for the PSL – and red cups are coming
Yes I'm already excited for Christmas...
Every year, there are a few important dates that always go in the diary.
Your birthday, Christmas… the launch date of the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte... aaaand the launch of Starbucks red cups (like the John Lewis advert, one of the official signs that Christmas is on the way. Amirite?)
It’s not just a drink, the PSL is a lifestyle. All you need is some crunchy leaves, chunky knitwear, a scarf – and your Starbs cup. Oh, and you need to post a pic featuring all the above to Insta.
This year, not only is the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte available as a vegan version, Starbucks has launched vegan whipped topping, so you can complete the #PSLifestyle look, even if you’re vegan.
The vegan version apparently keeps all the authentic flavours of the original, combining espresso roast with a spicy pumpkin base – featuring notes of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. The vegan whipped topping has been created by Alpro, and has a silky texture with a vanilla twist.
Believe it or not, the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte was launched all the way back in 2003. Over the years we’ve seen a pumpkin spice frap, for those that don’t feel the chill, whatever the weather, and the vegan version (minus that whip) in 2018.
And once we’ve got all that Halloween/pumpkin spice fun out the way, you know what’s next. Oh yes, it’s the Christmas countdown.
I discovered the other day there’s an entire website dedicated to the Starbucks red cup countdown…
As of today, we’ve got just 40 days to wait until the red cups come out.
