Stormzy’s career peaks as he’s gifted free Greggs for life
How many sausage rolls can one person eat in a year...? Asking for a friend.
Rapper Stormzy has had a good few years… He had the first number one single of the new decade, he won ‘Best Male Artist’ at the Brit awards this week, he headlined Glastonbury: he’s won basically every other award and accolade under the sun.
But it’s all been leading up to this. Today, Stormzy was given the first ever Greggs Black Card.
Oh yes, it’s a real thing, and Stormzy is currently the only person who has one. Following his Brit Awards win on Tuesday night, Stormzy received the best possible post.
Across Twitter and Instagram, Stormzy unboxed a delivery from the beloved bakery chain, which contained a video message. After listing his myriad achievements, the message reads, “Now you really have it all. It’s time to live life like it’s golden. Say hello to Greggs Concierge. You’re the first to own it.”
With the card, Stormzy can order whatever he wants, whenever he wants from the menu. To his door.
That’s the dream right?
Weirdly, Stormzy's Twitter account seems to have been deleted on 20 February. Is it somehow related to Greggs?
The delivery also came with a pair of size 12 black slippers to match the new card, in a cheeky reference to his appearance on BBC Breakfast when he forgot to change out of his slippers before going on live television.
Like the Nando’s Black Card, a Greggs Black Card is certainly not easy to get hold of. There’s not much information out there, but apparently it’s very much ‘invite-only’.
Last year, after singer Sam Fender won the Brits Critics’ Choice award, he said he’d been given a Greggs ‘Gold Card’. Greggs however said this was in fact a High Roller card, given to the likes of Little Mix, Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran.
And if you want, you can even buy one for yourself…
So not quite as exclusive as Stormzy’s Black Card, but you can buy a lot of sausage rolls for £50.
