Subway creates meatless meatballs for Veganuary

Good news if you like Subway and vegan food. Or both.

Subway joins the Veganuary craze with the latest addition in their growing list of vegan options: the vegan Meatball Marinara. This is a big one.

Subway already has a wide and varied selection of vegan meals like the Vegan Sub and the Hash Browns, and vegan sauces as well, including the Sriracha Hot Chilli and Sweet Onion. This time they've upped the ante with their flagship product because Meatball Marinara is a bit of an icon for Subway lovers. They've actually called it "Meatless Meatball Marinara". The news made both Subway customers and vegan advocates very happy.

Founded in 2014, Veganuary is a nonprofit organization that's been trying to promote veganism by encouraging people to go vegan for the month of January every year. Tony Vernelli, spokesperson of Veganuary, says the Meatless Meatball Marinara is great news for vegans in general because "Veganuary is a great opportunity for businesses to improve and expand their plant-based offerings". His words were echoed by Colin Hughes, country director Subway UK and Ireland, who's confirmed that the company is always trying to innovate, "our guests wanted a meatless version of our iconic Sub, so we made it for them".

The new Meatless Meatball Marinara is already available in every Subway store in the UK and Ireland.

  • When I was up north I could order a sandwich with Rosemary Sea Salt bread, down south, they never heard of it. Consistency people, if you have a chain of businesses you need to be consistent. You order a product in Maine it should the same no matter where you go.

  • I like subways subs, but I can only really afford a home made sandwich.

The rate of profit does not, like rent and wages, rise with prosperity and fall with the declension of the society. On the contrary, it is naturally low in rich, and high in poor countries, and it is always highest in the countries which are going fastest to ruin.
