Subway's Meatless Meatball Marinara: a review

This is my first ever vegan meal...

Being someone who is rather new to the world of Veganism, I thought I would set myself the task of trying the Vegan-ised version of my go-to Subway sandwich: the Meatball Marinara.

For years now, I have had the Meatball Marinara from Subway, as it is simply one of the greatest sandwiches of all time. But since this new trend of eating vegan has come about, I thought it was about time I gave it a go.

So, I went for a foot-long (of course) Meatless Meatball Marinara on Hearty Italian bread which came with vegan cheese. I then added tomato and lettuce once it had been toasted. I must say, they looked very similar when being made, but you could definitely tell they weren't proper meatballs just by looking.

But what did it taste like? Well, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it. I suspected it was never going to be as good as the original, but nevertheless, I went in with an open mind. The 'meatballs' themselves were alright. I couldn't really taste much as they weren't all that flavourful.

The part which really stood out to me was the vegan cheese, which was delicious. I am a big lover of cheese, so to try the stuff from the dark-side was always going to be scary, but I loved it and would 100% have it again.

In terms of having the sandwich again, I am not too sure. I think I'll stick to the meat one for the time being, but that's only because I'm not a vegan.

However, that is not to say I wouldn't try another vegan sandwich in the future.

Having vegan options available of people's favourite foods definitely makes it easier to make the switch to a meat-free life.

What's your favourite vegan version of something you've tried?
