Summer lunch review: Trying out Organico 'realfoods'

Summer in our house is all about tapas, BBQs and general fresh, yummy foods to share with friends and family. And when we were given the opportunity this summer to try some organic vegan products, we of course just had to say yes! We love supporting businesses big and small that pride themselves on sustainable and ethical working practices and, from looking into Organico Realfoods, they do just that.

Opening the mystery box! We had two little boys who were very excited when they saw a parcel had arrived. Our youngest loves food and especially pasta! We were amazed with the items Organico had sent us - all of them were hits.

The most important question was, what to make!

The red pepper dip was an easy answer; dip with the breadsticks and crispy flatbreads was a winning combination. Honestly, you could eat the dip all summer day and night; it just was so tasty.

To use the balsamic glaze, we picked some tomatoes from the garden, sliced with fresh basil - also from the garden - and used a vegan mozzarella from Greenvie foods. The balsamic glaze gave a perfect sweet zingy addition to the dish. And with the red pesto, we made a simple pesto pasta which was a great hit with the boys; they ate pretty much the whole lot - though we did manage to grab a couple of pieces each.

The pasta was also from the box and was really good too. Some vegan pastas I have cooked in the past have been slightly on the thin side, so often they end up disintegrating or tasting like wallpaper paste. But I am happy to report that this pasta was substantial and had a great bite.

Overall, we were mega happy with the quality and taste of all the products from Organico. 100% would recommend to anyone looking for some beautiful food products or even gift ideas for friends and family.
