Swap your old syrup bottles for free Nutella and pancakes

This is like no swap shop you've ever been to

First there was the Nutella cafe. Then they ran a competition to unlock 20,000 coupons for a free jar of Nutella.

Now, Nutella is going even further. This Leap Day they’re running a very Mardi Gras-appropriate promotion.

On February 29, get yourself down to the, uh, weirdly-named "NYC Syrup Swap Shop pop-up" at Grand Central's Vanderbilt Hall in New York City.

There, for the price of a bottle of syrup, you’ll be able to bag yourself pancakes topped with the delicious hazelnut spread *and* a 13-ounce jar of Nutella for free.

That’s right: you can trade syrup for Nutella. That’s the company’s not-so-subtle way of saying they think their spread is the superior pancake topping.

And it doesn’t even have to be a new bottle of syrup. The announcement reads “opened or unopened”. Since basically everyone has an old bottle of sticky syrup lurking at the back of the cupboard, you New Yorkers have no excuse to get down there this weekend.

The shop is open from 9am to 4pm this Saturday.

And as today is Pancake Day (or Fat Tuesday as it’s also known), Nutella is launching six new Nutella Dinosaur pancake designs.

"From silver dollar to blueberry, pancakes are an iconic breakfast staple, and we believe topping them with Nutella brings them to an unparalleled level of deliciousness," said Todd Midura, vice president of marketing at parent company, Ferrero North America.

"This Pancake Tuesday, we're encouraging families to participate in these activations that bring to life the joy of special breakfasts and we hope Nutella plays even a small role in helping them create memories that will last for a lifetime."
