While most Americans are use to the idea of chicken and noodle soup when they are sick. I got rice soup since my mother is from Thailand. I think it is just as comforting if not more than chicken and noodles for a cold. It is very simple to make, mince up whatever kind of meat you want to use or buy ground, preferably some jasmine rice, water and a few seasonings. Take your pot of water, add rice, minced meat, garlic, a little onion and some salt and pepper. Bring up to a simmer and cook until rice is done. If you need to add more water then add more water. This is very basic soup for when you have a cold. I finish mine with fish sauce, chili oil and green onion. While my husband does soy sauce, chili oil, green onion and sesame oil. Have you ever had rice soup?

    • Oh my, yum šŸ˜‹! I wish I had seen this earlier, I was trying to steam my sinuses with hot foods and settled for a prepackaged curry and some brown rice with sriracha. PS-fish sauce is awesome. Iā€™m out at the moment.
