The easiest Au Gratin potatoes you will ever make

It's really just layers of potatoes and cheese, what more do you need?

I should have made this post before Easter, but I didn't even think of it until after. We make this every Easter and sometimes at Christmas. Better late than never! You can enjoy these any time of the year. These Au Gratins are cheesy, tasty, and cooked to perfection. If you like a no-nonsense potato, this is for you.

My mom taught me this recipe and like any good family recipe, nothing is quite measured out. But that's okay! Cooking usually doesn't have to be exact, and one of the best cooking tips you'll ever hear is to make any recipe your own. If you have questions about measurements, please leave me a comment and I'll help you. I was always nervous about cooking without precise measurements, but this is the perfect first "do what you want" recipe.

These are paired perfectly with baked ham, pork chops, or even baked chicken. Serve with a fresh vegetable, such as broccoli, and a side salad.

Happy Easter!

  • I love this dish, but I've only heard it called potato bake here.

  • Excellent. I like to layer potato slices with pre-cooked sliced leeks.
