The Ordinary Kitchen (diaries of a kitchen failure)

I started a blog at the beginning of my cooking journey to somewhat document it. I no longer blog, but wanted to put everything all in one place so I am moving some of my my posts over to Foodtribe (sorry).
I have never been a great cook. It could be because I never took a culinary class, or because I never really showed an interest in learning on my own, or it could be because my dear, wonderful, amazing, mother was not an amazing cook either. I could throw the blame a lot of places, but perhaps the biggest downfall in my failed cooking efforts is my impatience and the lack of passion that I have had up until this point.

I will skip the boring details about how my loathing towards cooking became this new passion and sum it up to prior exhaustion from my day to day life. Long work days, household chores, a husband, kids, and poor health made me dread cooking. It was another thing on a long list of responsibilities. Big life changes happened, I wanted to be healthier and I made more time for myself. My priorities began to change, as well as my attitude. Slowly but surely I started looking forward to finding and preparing new recipes. My favorite is discovering healthier alternatives to the things I crave.

I have always been a kitchen failure. Burnt, or undercooked, or inedible, or just plain weird flavor combinations came about at every attempt I made. Premade, frozen food, and uber eats were my go-to's. However, I am determined now and with the new excitement and joy I have found I am starting to see a glimmer of hope, some small improvement.

This is my journey from no knowledge, from a very beginner, from a complete kitchen failure to a hopeful cooking guru. I am here to try to prove if I can do it anyone can.

Below are some pics of my past disasters from over the years.
(I don't have many photos, but just know these are representative of all my efforts)

    • Yeah I am just not sure how I feel about posting to groups yet. I feel more comfortable just posting to my page. Where I can contain my lameness and awkwardness in one spot without annoying the tribe pages.🤣😂

  • We all have our fair share of kitchen failure!

Your other posts clearly show your improvement!

  • Mistakes are good, anyone can follow recipe but analysis of mistakes really helps to build knowledge. (Based on that theory I ‘should’ be an expert by now 🤣)

  • Yeah. I know but posting to a tribe feels like I'm being invasive in peoples little groups or whatever. 😑
