The fascination with the Royal Family has always been high and even more so since the release of The Crown, which is currently in it's fourth season. Recently the chefs in the Royal kitchen released the recipe for the Royals traditional Christmas pudding so you too can eat like royalty this Christmas.

On November 22nd, the official Royal Family Twitter account tweeted that it was Stir Up Sunday, which is traditionally the day when home cooks would 'stir up' their Christmas pudding mixture, followed by the recipe for the pudding that reads as follows.

For 2 x 1kg puddings:

250g Raisins

250g Currants

185g Sultanas

150g Mixed Peel

250g Suet or Vegetarian Suet

250g Breadcrumbs

90g Flour

12g Mixed Spice

2 Whole Eggs

180g Demerara Sugar

275ml Beer

40ml Dark Rum

40ml Brandy

For the rest of the recipe you combine the dry ingredients, then add in the eggs and other liquids. Put the mixture into greased bowls and steam in a deep pot for six hours. Once the puddings are done you can store them in a cool, dark place until Christmas.

If you feel like adding a little flair, you can douse the puddings in brandy and light them on fire before serving.

We definitely have these on our radar this Christmas and if you make them, let us know how you get on and if you feel like royalty.

    • Always had one when I lived in England but they don't post well to the US and I had one confiscated at customs once.
