The strongest gin... in the world
Do you fancy a sip of a 95% ABV gin?
Would you try the strongest gin... in the world? It's called Extreme 95, and no – the 95 it is not the year of production or the number of botanical used to make this particular gin. It's the percentage of alcohol. If you are a lover of spirits, this may look like a challenge, and as a gin lover, I'm intrigued.
This high gradation gin is made by Anno Spirits, a distillery in Kent (UK) and it achieved the record of being the most alcoholic gin ever produced. With an abv of 95%, it's apparently got a strong taste of juniper punctuated by citrus and herbal notes, a crystal clear color and an earthy and strong essence at the nose.
The distillery suggest the best way to drink it is as a Gin and Tonic. Thanks to the high alcoholic amount, it's possible to make a good drink with small quantities of gin. The bottle actually comes with a package containing a beaker glass, to measure the recommended amount of 5ml. A garnish of grapefruit or bruised thyme is suggested by the maker. Last but not least, this gin is 100% vegan.
A 20cl bottle with the measuring glass costs around £30. Considering the small quantity needed for a cocktail, and the fact it's produced by a local distillery sounds like a fair price. Apparently they only ship in the UK so... I can't taste it yet in Italy!
