These pistachio BonBons look like something from the NY Museum of Modern Art
Who else didn't know cocoa butter airbrushing was a thing?
Reddit is traditionally that spot on the internet where far left people go to become radicalised and have Battle of Cirith Ungols with other slightly different far left people - but that's irrelevant because this week, the gentler little Subreddit of Food Porn served up these exquisite bonbons.
Bonbons are small, moulded chocolates that differ from the truffle in that instead of a soft, oozy chocolate centre, they have something non-chocolate inside. Ideally liqueur. Or in this case - pistachio, the king of nuts.
Baker and as far as I'm concerned, artist Ctrl_Alt_3lite then airbrushed these bonbons with coloured cocoa butter - a hack that's apparently more widespread in the internet food-art world than I knew and which I'm now very eager to try myself.

They look a bit like man-made titanium quartz (photo)
What is it?
It’s a crystal like obsidian, quartz, ect. But this one isn’t natural. It appears during chemical processes.
**Gives car modelling airbrush a quick rinse
Those look like they could hurt.
I'm willing to risk it
I would probably be as well.
I have never used airbrush, but I have seen airbrushed desserts 🥺🥺
Doesn't it make you need to DIY?
No, I am really bad at anything that requires manual touches. If someone would like a Pollock cake, I will take the job 😅.
I literally don't care how they taste, I want them just to stare at them!
Very aesthetic indeed.
