This giant Ohio pumpkin just broke the state record!

After an intense weigh-off, the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival crowned this 2195 lbs monster the winner

Pumpkin festivals in the United States are fairly common and welcomed events as they represent a rare opportunity for families and neighbours to gather amidst the ongoing pandemic. Barnesville, Ohio did just that to crown their 2021 state champions.

After an intense and fairly close weigh-off, the heavyweight title was won by Jeff Theil from Dillonvale, who's pumpkin nearly broke the scale with the barely believable 2195 pounds! That's nearly the weight of a compact car! And as for the physical dimensions, the picture below is from the second place contestant.

While this is a new state record, it's still far from the world record, which belongs to an Italian family, having produced a monster pumpkin at 2703 pounds! There are cars in this day and age that actually weigh less!

Not even the biggest in size.

But the big news was a new world record for a squash. This giant tipped the scales at 2164 pounds, thanks to Todd and Donna Skinner of Barnesville, who broke their previous record. Their ambition is to "Keep them growing" for the future.
