The travel sector has been dramatically affected by Covid and even now, as some regions and areas gradually reopen, things don't look too bright and that's partly because of the numerous restrictions still in place and also because people aren't exactly eager to hit the road again, because of fear and economic disruption. Hotels are doing everything they can to make things easier for guests and the Hotel Trio (part of Marriott group) in Sonoma County, California has revamped a project it originally launched two years ago: a self-operating robot butler designed to deliver wine to your door.

We've been told over and over again that social distancing is crucial in this transition back to normal life and that's exactly what the robot, dubbed "Rosé the Robot", does. Rosé can easily transport snacks, extra towels, wine (including Rosé!) and basically anything you can think of to your hotel room. No human contact is required because the robot can navigate elevators and automatically locate rooms.

Rosé was first introduced in 2018 but it is of course very much in tune with the times, as noted by Trio General Manager Scott Satterfield in a press release. Mr Satterfield says that "for guests who prefer contactless deliveries, Rosé can provide peace of mind as she can deliver items for their suite"

  • Do I really need a robot that can deliver booze without judging me? That disapproving look is a lifesaver on business trips...
