- Cranberry sauce is the most-loathed Turkey Day dish

This is how Americans really feel about turkey day

Millennials would rather give up sex than host Thanksgiving

In a startling new development, 40% of millennials would rather give up sex for a month than have to cook a big Thanksgiving dinner.

What’s more, a fifth of Americans who actually did host a Thanksgiving meal said they had to pretend to enjoy it.

Those are just some of the downright shocking results from Instacart’s aptly named Turkey Day Exposé.

Instacart recently published the results of a survey of more than 2,000 US adults conducted online by The Harris Poll. This year, 87% of Americans will attend a Thanksgiving meal.

The poll found that 42% of men would rather give up football for a month than be responsible for cooking the big dinner. And almost a third of Americans would rather give up their phone for a month than be responsible for the Turkey Day grub.

Just over 40% of millennials who have hosted have served something other than turkey.

In a somewhat less surprising holiday fact, the survey concluded that our most hated Thanksgiving food is canned cranberry sauce. In fact, half of the adults asked described the sweet red sauce as “disgusting”.

Other tabletop offenders include green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and turkey. (Who doesn’t like sweet potatoes?! 22% of these survey respondents, apparently).

68% of Americans secretly dislike a classic Thanksgiving food but eat it anyway because of tradition.

How do you feel about cranberry sauce? And would you give up your phone / sex / football to avoid hosting Thanksgiving?

  • I always thought that Thanksgiving was a gentle reminder to be thankful for the little things.

In that respect it is a reflection of the true character of America.

P.J. O'Rourke has written a nice story about the history of Thanksgiving in " American Consequences " , an online investment magazine . youtu.be/k7ZByljEbbY............https://youtu.be/BwUxCUVfy9Y...special bonus material :youtu.be/5alwFrEBQW4

    • You can only do what you can do.

Thrift and common sense is the basis of America, with a stroke of genius, a dash of perspiration, a drop of reflection, and a moment of silence.

  • Making everything here, i don’t mind, i do hate most of the food, always have. But hubs likes it, we are both inbetweens (70s kids), parents are boomers, we treat it like any other dinner, nothing special, pumpkin pie with real whip is the best though 🥧💕🦃
