Imagine commuting several hours a day in an old lorry through the United Kingdom's roughest roads and on the rainiest day, only to discover that your lunchbox has been confiscated. Brexit has introduced a bunch of complicated regulations when transporting goods from the UK to the EU and they are arguably cruel. In a nutshell, drivers cannot consume most foods when commuting between borders and the Road Haulage Association (RHA) needs to individually provide paperwork for each cargo load.

Thankfully, there are two heroic companies at hand by the name of LoveSeitan and Simply Lunch, whom have been providing truck drivers with vegan sandwiches through their Operation Snack campaign. Over 500 sandwiches were distributed to "hungry haulers" and everything was compliant with new EU and COVID-19 regulations. The final result contains smiles and satisfied stomachs, all of which are allowed entry into the EU.

“I’m a vegan myself and I’m really pleased that LoveSeitan has come up with an alternative to meat and dairy that is not only healthy but also ‘legal’," stated RHA's chief executive, Richard Burnet. At the end of the day, everyone has the right to a good snack when on the job... especially if they're a long-distance trucker delivering essential supplies. • I can't understand why they can't have their lunch? It's their personal possession, not transported goods. Is, one day, someone is going to say, they can't have a shirt on their backs? This seems to me ridiculous.

    • I totally agree, these new Brexit regulations are anything but sane. It's literally just a sandwich!

  • A hurrae to those companies, who make it easier for the truckers — and a double hurrae for all those women and men sitting countless hours on their trucks, delivering our stuff!!!🙏🏼👍🏻

  • It’s just a salad sandwich; they were a popular lunch in the 1970s .

    • I never knew salad sandwiches were a thing in the 70s. I need meat in my sandwich!

    • There were these square plain bread rolls , and we would have sliced beetroot, lettuce and tomato on them , with grated carrot and maybe a slice of processed cheese .

These mass produced Kmart ones look similar.
