Flavoring your ramen

Let's talk about ramen snacks. The flavor choices are only limited by your imagination. Just eating these plain isn't too bad – you get a light crunchiness with a slightly nutty flavor. However, as this is 'Uncommon Ramen', I'm taking it up a step or two. The flavors I chose for my ramen snacks are taco seasoning, and sugar with cinnamon. Make sure you coat your ramen as soon as it is pulled out of the oil, so you have a good chance of your seasoning sticking to the ramen.

How to prepare your ramen

The ramen has been cooked then rinsed in cold water and allowed to drain well. I put it in a baggie with some vegetable oil and placed in the fridge to cool. When I am ready for some ramen snacks, it doesn't take long at all to make. Heat up some vegetable oil in a skillet, then fry for a couple of minutes until crunchy. Place on paper towels to drain, and immediately season with your choice of flavor.

Let me know if you give this a try and what flavors you chose.

Stay tuned for the next Uncommon Ramen...

  • This is a good idea! Have you used them as croutons 🤔

  • There's a video where Jamie Oliver gets a hot pan, sprinkles some cheese on it, then stirs in a swig of Worcestershire sauce. Everything bubbles and he is able to pour this cheesy sauce over things (I believe it was a burger pattie or similar?). I think pouring it over some crispy noodles would work a treat! Am looking forward to trying this 🙂
