Valentine's Day on a budget? Supermarkets are getting you in the mood for love

Aldi is offering the UK's cheapest meal for two to keep you in the good books with the other half!

Valentine's Day is fast approaching. The designated day of the year where you can make an extra special effort to show your significant other how much they mean to you. If you're into that sort of thing!

Isn't in horrendous timing though? Immediately following what feels like the 12 weeks of January? We over-indulge for Christmas, cling on for dear life in January, and then BOOM – time to buy some gifts of love.

The struggle is real!

Our good friends at Aldi know all too well how we feel and, this year, have made it a little easier for us all. For less than £10 you can satisfy almost anyone with a lush starter, main, and dessert, for two!

Specially Selected sharing bread with Camembert or a king prawn and scallop ramekin will be followed by, among other choices, salmon fillets with heart shaped butter, beef wellington, duck breast, or 21 day matured sirloin steak.

However, I think our favourite has to be... the love nugs!

Love. Nugs.

To your heart-shaped chicken nuggets, you can add a choice of triple cooked chips with beef dripping, or Barbers cheddar cheese mash potatoes. Of the range of deserts, the cheapest (and cutest) are the heart shaped pancakes.

If you've been frugal in January and want to push the boat out a little, you can treat your Valentine to something a little more 'up market'

Morrisons Valentine's meal deal comes in at £15 but that does include a bottle of bubbles to set the mood for the evening. They do have a wider range available and have included a range of vegan options to make sure there's something for everyone.

Here's what's on offer:

Marks and Spencer

M&S are the go to place for 'Dine in for two' deals, normally, and they have a few specials on offer for Valentine's Day too.

Their options come in at £12 for a main course, side, dessert and a bottle of wine, for two.

Arguably, the best value for treating your loved one this year, comes from Asda. They are offering the full 3 courses, plus sides, and a bottle of wine or bubbles for £15. Like M&S, they have also included a good range of vegetarian and vegan options to keep everyone fed and happy.

If that special someone isn't a big eater and has a really sweet tooth, Lidl is where you'll want to head as they introduce this special, heart shaped waffle maker!

So that's Valentine's Day sorted, what have you got planned?
