Vegan chicken nuggets are hitting stores
Rebellyous is bringing up its retail launch as a result of COVID-19
Vegan chicken nuggets will soon be available in retail stores (if you live in the Seattle area, that is).
Rebellyous Foods will be making its meat-free nuggets available at Leschi Market and Vegan Haven in Seattle. They’ll be sold in frozen one-pound packs for $5.99. The packaging instructs you to bake, pan fry, or deep fry the nuggets, but not microwave.
As The Spoon reports, Rebellyous was founded in 2017 – and since then has been selling plant-based chicken wholesale to places like universities and hospitals in the Pacific Northwest and Bay Area. It is now accelerating the retail launch as a result of the pandemic.
CEO Christie Lagally said, “Kids love our nuggets because they’re delicious. Parents love them because they’re more nutritious than their animal-based counterparts and they’re simple to prepare.
"Since day one, fans have been asking where they can purchase our nuggets to enjoy at home and we’re thrilled to offer this opportunity for them to do so, while staying true to our mission of offering plant-based meat for all by starting with affordable family-sized packs.”
The website states: “Millions more people are trying to eat more plant-based foods and fewer animal-based foods because they want to have a lighter impact on the environment, avoid antibiotics and hormones in their food, and prevent animal cruelty. Yet it hasn’t always been easy for foodservice operations with limited time, equipment, budgets, and trained staff to create delicious center-of-plate options.
"Until now. At Rebellyous Foods, we believe everyone should have access to delicious plant-based food. Meatless for all is our mission. Let’s get rebellyous.”
