Now this is interesting

Virgin Atlantic has just launched a new ’Social Drinking Booth’ (officially only known as ‘The Booth’) on its newest A350 aircraft. It is exactly what it says it is: a section of the plane specifically designed to socialize while drinking.

According to Virgin Atlantic, The Booth is “a cosy corner, providing comfy lounge style seating.” The Booth will also include two 27-inch monitors and and two Bluetooth audio jacks.

Virgin Atlantic’s COO Corneel Koster said they’ve “curated The Booth specifically for our customers jetting off on holiday to our sunny destinations, offering a truly stylish start to their trips.“

“We’re famous for our on-board social spaces and the introduction of The Booth elevates the customer proposition for our leisure travellers to new heights,” added Koster.

The Booth will be available on the company’s Airbus A350, starting with the Heathrow-Orlando route in December 2021. Other routes and destinations will be added in 2022. The company’s Boeing 787 also features a similar space and drinks are included in ticket prices on certain flights.

  • Looks a bit on the small side to me.

  • It's been called the far classier term of onboard LOUNGE since the 1960s. Kudos to Virgin Atlantic for putting one in something smaller than a 747/A380 though.

  • Service wise our favourites are Qatar and Qantas, but Qatar is a bit ahead because its flights are rarely delayed. We had two major mess ups with Qantas, one domestic and one international. I hope The Booth will be what it's meant to be, i.e. social, not antisocial. We saw one or three ugly scenes in the past, without booths!
