Virtual cookie booths are here for all your thin mint needs
We can't let covid-19 take our Girl Scout cookies
First covid-19 came for our Peeps. Then it took our Girl Scout Cookies. Oh, the horror.
But those Girl Scouts are nothing if not resourceful, because now you can order tagalongs, thin mints and all your other faves online.
Girl Scouts of the USA has of course suspended in-person activities and events, including Girl Scout Cookie booths, in order to keep everyone safe.
But thanks to the Girl Scouts Cookie Care campaign you can order and donate cookies online.
“For 108 years, Girl Scouts has been there in times of crisis and turmoil,” said Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo in a statement. “ And today we are stepping forward with new initiatives to help girls, their families, and consumers connect, explore, find comfort, and take action.”
On the Cookie Care site you can safely order cookies for home delivery or donate cookies to first responders, volunteers and local causes.
As you’re probably aware (if you’ve been missing your annual samoa fix), the pandemic hit right in the middle of cookie season. The sales are the main financial income for the program which 1.7 million girls rely on. So it’s a great cause—not to mention, well, cookies delivered to your door.
You should also keep an eye on social media for #VirtualCookieBooth, which enterprising girl scouts are using to make sales pitches and organize distribution.
