Watch: Apparently, there are 520 ways to eat a Jaffa Cake
So of course, it fell on my shoulders to try out each one.
Clearly lockdown boredom got to statistician Dr Geoff Ellis, and so he sat down and used qualitative and quantitative data (numbers and not numbers to you and I) to figure out how many permutations there are when it comes to the act of consuming Jaffa Cakes. Turns out there is a lot. 520 to be precise. Which is considerably more than the single method I use of ramming it in in one go. But clearly this in-depth sciencing of Jaffa Cakes hadn't gone far enough.
So McVitie's roped in behavioural psychologist and dating expert Jo Hemmings to put some characteristics to the ten most popular means of Jaffa Cake consumption.
Jo Hemmings explained: "You might prefer to nibble all the chocolate off before eating the sponge or go straight in for the centre. Just like Jaffa Cakes themselves, we’re all uniquely different in exactly how we choose to eat them."
And given I am FoodTribe's unofficial, official Jaffa Cake correspondent, it unsurprisingly fell to me to have a go at all of these means for pushing chocolate, jelly and sponge into your face. Cue the video!
So there you have it, the ten most popular ways to eat Jaffa Cakes. If you like them that is. But which method do you use?
