Watch: Greggs' Vegan Steak Bake, a review
I finally get round to cramming one of these controversial pastries into my pie hole. And yes. I filmed it.
Veganism. It's given us a lot of things, and perhaps now it's given us its finest creation yet. The vegan steak bake from Greggs. I tried their meat free sausage roll when it was first released and loved it. It gave me an environmentally sound, and morally less morbid snack while also tasting rather nice indeed. And then came the steak bake.
As usual, certain people were up in arms, but nonetheless it has its place in society and its a worthwhile place. It tastes exactly the same as the regular steak bake, and has the same texture which boggles my mind. Aside from the lack of the golden colour which an egg wash would give, it's identical. So time to dive in and see what it tastes like.
It costs £1.55 which is 55 pence more than the vegan sausage roll. Now production is matching demand it's readily available across the country. So go, enjoy and feel good.
