We are often quite reluctant to celebrate festivals by ourselves because of the effort involved. But, in times like these, its the effort that prompted us to celebrate our new year with even more gusto! It took 6 hours to prepare everything and it was totally worth it. On the menu was a cauliflower sabzi ( Indian vegetable preparation) with green peas, Pulav ( Basmati rice with veggies and aromatic spices ), Phulka Rotis ( Ballooned up thin breads ) and a cucumber Kochimbir ( yogurt based salad). Happy New Year to everyone! ( March 25th was Gudi Padva, a festival marking the start of a new year for a lot of folks in western India)
