Two weeks ago, I kickstarted FoodTribe’s most extreme challenge yet: a mission for us all to make something we’ve never made before. Then completely forgot about it until FoodTribe’s Jane Fyffe, who forgets nothing, wondered what had happened to the follow-up post.

So here we are a week late, with a chunk of courageous entries from FoodTribers who dared to turn to an unexplored part of the recipe book...

BAKLAVA BY PATRICK JACKSON

Despite being one of Patrick's favourite desserts, he'd been dissuaded from attempting it by the legend it's supposed to be super-difficult. Turns out, it's not.

Looks like you've got a new signature dessert, Patrick.

WARM SALAD, BY FULANA FOOD BURGULAR

Salads are very often the afterthought, a token sacrifice made to healthy eating, but Fulana's warm salad with chestnut, apple, shallots, radicchio, and red wine vinegar shows what happens when you give it some thought.

Apparently these challenges are a joke to Jane Fyffe, as she attempted not one, but two new creations - a croque Madame with the most irrestible egg spillage ever, and an intergalactic marble cake.
